One of the most important things in the lead up to your wedding day (and something which is often overshadowed by seating arrangements and bridesmaids shoes) is skincare. Most of us are guilty of being too tired to wash our faces before bed, or rushing off in the morning, forgetting to give our faces a little TLC. But in the months before your special day taking care of your skin, and having a good skincare routine is key.

Every bride wants to look and feel her very best on her big day – and having flawless, glowing skin is a great start. Having a good skincare routine will also make the job of your makeup artist a lot easier too – your skin will have a better texture, meaning the makeup will apply easier and last longer too.

We wanted to offer bride-to-be’s the chance to learn some skincare tips from the very best – so we booked in an appointment at 33Dowanhill (based in the West End of Glasgow) for one of their signature facials.

Upon entering the understated 33Dowanhill building, all of your wedding planning stresses and anxieties melt away. The bright, airy interiors have a serene quality and you are instantly met with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Not to mention that this is heaven for us skincare junkies; shelves lined with our skincare favourites from NIOD to Vanderohe No. 1.

No two people have exactly the same skin issues and concerns, so 33Dowanhill tailor their signature facial to the requirements and preferences of each client, after talking through your concerns. The lovely Joanna from 33Dowanhill explained to me that the Signature Facial will always include a deep double cleanse, acid exfoliation, facial massage and multi-masking; with each element being completely bespoke to you. All treatments also include pressure point work, lymphatic drainage and head massage.

The facial itself was very pleasant and calming. Lasting around 60 minutes and taking place in a quiet, relaxing room – I came away feeling fresh and glowy; my newly-uplifted skin absolutely loving the tailor-made cocktail of serums, oils & balms used. What I really loved about the facial was how the facilist took the time to listen to my concerns; whether it be dehydration, sensitivities, signs of ageing or pigmentation.

Overall, we couldn’t be happier with the service and results from our visit to 33Dowanhill, and know that this will be the first of many trips there.

33Dowanhill also offer bespoke bridal packages; which again can be tailored to your concerns and skin type. They understand that it isn’t normal to be the centre of attention and for most brides the prospect of having a camera pointed at you can be a little overwhelming. The lovely facialists at 33Dowanhill can work with you on a tailor-made package to ensure your concerns are all addressed in the build up to your wedding day.
