We don’t know about you, but we’re totally craving some newness right now. Maybe it’s because we have the same joggies-and-hoody outfit on rotation, perhaps it’s the fact a supermarket trip has become the highlight of our social calendar, but we want to break out of the rut, get excited about the next big wedding trends and make wedding planning FUN again! So without further ado, here’s the AMM 2021 Wedding Trend Report.

Suits you, gal

Your wedding day is the best time to remind everyone who wears the trousers and we are SO here for the Bianca Jagger-esque appeal of a bridal suit. Model Vanessa Axente totally nailed it when she got married recently in this relaxed-but-tailored Joseph ensemble. The pic above is from her Instagram, where you can see more snaps from her chic day.

Going green

Forget pastels: we want our bridesmaids dressed head to toe in rich, moody colours that mirror Scotland’s gorgeous landscapes. Top of our list is forest green, a colour which in our opinion suits absolutely every skin tone and looks killer teamed with a bold red lip. This style is by Wtoo.

Pony up

We’ve got to admit, we’ve been in love with bridal ponytails ever since Olivia Palermo sported one on her big day, but they’ve never felt as relevant as they do right now. They fit with the relaxed vibe of 2021 but still look perfectly polished and elegant – here’s one of our gorgeous AMM brides, photographed by Christine McNally, showing us all how it’s done!

Scarlet fever

Listen, we’ve been doing the whole au naturale make-up look for longer than we care to think about, so you better believe we’ll be living in red lipstick when normal life resumes. Plus if you’re going for laid-back luxe with your wedding outfit and hair, this is the easiest way to inject a bit of glam into proceedings. [image via Hung Vanngo]

Micro weddings

Over the past year, we’ve all learned just how incredibly special elopements and micro weddings can be. We predict even more of these intimate celebrations taking place in 2021. Fresh and dry

Dried flower arrangements are going absolutely nowhere, and if you want to bring them bang up to date then ask your florist to create a bouquet featuring a mixture of dried and fresh flowers. The combination of textures looks seriously cool – how amazing is this bouquet and headband combo created by Glasgow florist Wild Iris Studio? [image: Aga Urbanska via Wild Iris Studio]

Dried plants also look out of this world incorporated into your wedding decor, like this incredible pampas grass set-up by wild foraging florist Tupelo Tree. [image below by Caitlin and Jones]

Local heroes

It’s never been more important to support local, independent businesses and that’s what a 2021 wedding (and beyond) should be all about. Whether that’s choosing a caterer who sources their produce from people in their area (we love Kirsty’s Travelling Tearoom) or having your dress made by a Scottish designer, the coolest weddings are the ones that celebrate the talent right here on our doorstep!

Make mine a flat white

Loads of us have given up on heels entirely and that means you can expect to see way more flat shoe options available for your wedding day. We are crushing hard on these Gucci flats with a chain strap and polished gold hardware. Mega stylish, easy to dance in and you can easily incorporate them into your wardrobe after the wedding (and at 600 quid, you’ll defo want to get your money’s worth…).

Baby cakes

With guestlists downsizing, we’re seeing so many miniature versions of our fave wedding cakes. This tiny boho dream is by Glasgow cake designer Rosewood Cakes, incorporating rustic dried flowers and hand-painted details.
